The Smokey Margarita

Mother Nature is playing with our feelings more than my high school crush played with mine 7 years ago.

One day it’s warm out and the next day it’s brisk and windy. All everyone really wants to do is pretend they’re classy and sit outside with a margarita and a ridiculous floppy-hat.

Because of this, I said screw Mother Nature, I’m making a margarita at home – but with an added smokiness to keep me in a reality-check that it’s still somewhat cold outside here on the East Coast.

The Smoky Margarita: Made with my favorite new licor, Ancho Reyes. It’s super easy, because the smoky-tones come from Ancho-Reyes and the Mezcal itself, so all you need to do is add fresh lime juice and agave.

3/4 oz Ancho Reyes
3/4 oz Montelobos Mezcal
3/4 oz Any Silver Tequila
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 part Agave Nectar (or more if you want it to be sweeter)

PS: For all you non-bartenders out there, 1 OZ is one shot, so when I say 3/4 of an oz, I really mean not a whole shot – so don’t get crazy.

Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice, shake, and strain over fresh ice into the glass.
Garnish this with a lime wedge and rim glass with some Chile salt.

Also, please drink responsibly, your mother wants you to call her tomorrow morning.
