Puerto Vallarta has been great, really great… and really hot (cue the sweat on my shirt just below). Who would have thought, we came here during the hottest month of the year!? Not a great traveling tip. But otherwise it’s phenomenal, there is the ocean to swim and enough tequila and beers to go around.
Also, lots of wild animals, including dogs. I sat on our apartment’s steps the other day and a friendly pup came up to me and just sat down as I pet him. Sure, he could’ve used a bath.. but wild dogs get into everything here. I don’t think Zoey would be so fond of me if I brought one home.
We’ve met some locals and found our favorite dive bar already. It’s an easy lifestyle here, breakfast is nothing but a taco or these things called “Birrias,” a very crispy fried tortilla with juicy pork in it that’s been sitting in broth for hours. It also helps that these meals cost you a whopping $5 for two people. No wonder people retire here.
I plan to do a roundup of my favorite food spots and adventures when I leave here, but I still have more exploring to do, and more tacos to try..
Until then, here’s a little photo-diary of our past week..
This is Tony, he makes a slammin’ bloody mary + has became our favorite bartender at our favorite local bar.
And a very special shout out to Oscar + Paul here. They found me via Instagram and had no problem inviting me to their party up in the mountains. They were so welcoming and introduced us to their friends. The Internet is an amazing place.
These two really proved to me that people in other countries aren’t just “strangers,” they are much more kind and whole-hearted than you would think.
